Was craving cold noodles on hot day. Stopped by on a busy Friday evening and to our surprise we were seated almost immediately. Service was super quick and friendly. I appreciated that they offered 5 different cold udon dishes in addition to their other offerings. We ordered the tempura fried gyoza as an appetizer. I had not seen this offered on a menu before so I was intrigued. The pork and veggie gyoza were wrapped in a shiso leaf, then fried tempura style. It was an interesting flavor and texture experience! For our mains, we tried 2 different cold udon dishes. I appreciated the freshness of the noodles. They were tasty even without the dipping broth! Both dishes were super refreshing and flavorful. This was our second time dining here and we will definitely be back to try their other dishes!

I love the vibe of their restaurant! The interior is very comfortable and for the two times I've been here, service was great. The food is aesthetically pleasing and taste is delicious as well. I prefer their Salmon Spinach Cream Sauce Udon ($23.75/ 5/5 stars) over their Mentai Cream Sauce Udon ($22.25 4/5 stars) and Tonkatsu Udon Delux ($22.50 4/5 stars) because the taste of the other two are more heavy in comparison so I feel like I could only eat half of the bowl while the flavor of the Salmon Spinach Cream Sauce Udon was just right so I can eat the entire bowl. The assorted tempura ($12/ 4.5/5 stars) were nicely made and although I'm not the biggest fan of it, but the two piece Yaki Onigiri ($9/ 3.5/5 stars) were pretty good as well.

Wonderful friendly place with super nice people and delicious food! My 96 soon to be 97 year old mom and I stopped in for lunch. We were first greeted by a nice young man who raced out to open the door for us. They must have seen my mom using the walker for the young nice man was standing outside holding the door just as I was locking the car door. (What service for starters) We walked in and were greeted by a very nice person who led us to our seats in a booth. The interior is well lit, not very noisy and very comfortable to be in. We ordered edamame and agadashi tofu for appetizers. They were both very delicious! The tofu was perfectly fried and seasoned. The edamame had just the perfect amount of salt on them! Very tasty!! Mom ordered the Tempura Udon and I ordered the Nabeyaki Udon. Both of us were very pleased with our meals! The tempura was crispy and light. The belly pork and medium boiled egg were absolutely delicious! We ordered two packed sodas, one lychee and the other strawberry. Very delicious plus they have a little blinking light in them. Very neat! The broths on both udon were super tasty. Perfectly seasoned and served hot! Wonderfully delicious! We will be back! Please see the pictures and let your eyes do some eating!

I just love how effortless Yelp Waitlist is. Added our name on the list while we were driving and got seated promptly when we arrived. Immediately we were overwhelmed with the choices of udon! But let me break it down 1. Tonkotsu broth (mainly pork) 2. Cream sauce 3. Nabeyaki broth (traditional pork and fish broth) 4. Curry 5. Warm udon (personally I think this is a horrible name, are they implying that #1-4 are all cold?? Nevertheless less the server told us that it's very similar to #3 6. Cold udon We ordered the assorted tempura as an appetizer but it came out after my Salmon Spinach Cream Udon. The smoked salmon complimented the rich and creamy sauce very well. Tasted like an Asian chewy carbonara Katsu Curry udon: beef was tender but the pork katsu was on the drier side. The broth/ curry itself was very strong also. It was good but overpowering and we weren't able to finish the dish. My son had the kids menu, which was the mini udon. I didn't catch if it was the same broth as the nabeyaki or warm udon. It was a burst of umami and definitely superior. It came with 2 pieces of corn tempura (pass not that good) and 1 piece of broccoli tempura. This made it on our list to return. Also noticed that they have 2 other locations in SF and Mountain View.

What Have Udon? Local chain that began up on SF's Japantown back in 2014 and is widely credited with starting an "udon craze" in the Bay Area. They've since expanded to Mountain View, and most recently, this one here in West SJ, replacing another old Udon favorite Ringer Hut (RiP)--who first, brought Udon to SJ way back in 1990. On a side note, we've been to all three of their locations, and this is by-far our favorite one for ease of parking, being the least crowded of the three, and the food is always on-point here. The Good: *Private lot and street parking available *All their noodles and soups are made in-house daily using top-notch ingredients. *Fresh uncooked noodles are available to purchase in-store to take home and make your own bowl at home. *Japanese beers on draught and bottle *You really can't go wrong with any soup you order here, as they're all fantastic. I'd have to say the curry (Carissa's go-to) and Tonkotsu might be the top ones, but honestly, you could chuck a dart, and you'd hit on something good. *Service is always fast and friendly *Their POS system is my favorite as you can pay, tip, and have your receipt emailed/texted to you on the spot. *Veggie tempura is a good call--especially the corn! The Meh: *A little pricey at +$20/ bowl, but the food doesn't disappoint, so I'll never complain about the price. *No outdoor seating The Ugly: *Neighborhood is a little ghettolicious, as the signs in the parking lot will remind you. Conclusion: Maybe the preeminent spot to get your Udon on in the Bay Area and definitely my favorite. Highly recommended.

The food and service here is fantastic! My favorite is the mentai udon, but their tempura is delicious, too. Even on a busy night your food comes out quickly, and the staff are always friendly and efficient.

We had a party of 5 and waited ~15 minutes on a rainy Saturday at 6pm. The udon here is fantastic! I'm not a huge udon fan, but the kakuni and extra spice made the udon super savory and full of umami. We also ordered the tempura (delicious) and one of my friends got the lychee drink and it didn't disappoint. Definitely recommend trying this place out if you're a fan of udon!

Yoshi was a great server that made my first time experience here such a joy. We came when they first opened so we were immediately sat. She gave us thorough breakdowns of the menu and patiently conversed with us in a friendly way despite our rowdiness. Tonkotsu Chashu 10/10 dish but I got it non spicy. Will try medium next time. Sake selections were enjoyable and all staff attentive. Would come again!
